Mexican Grill and Tequileria
Anyone that has visited Mexico can attest to the generous hospitality, flavorful, food and colorful décor that is uniquely Mexico – not to mention its signature contribution to the world of spirits, tequila. Zocalo will recreate these unmistakable characteristics of Mexico and bring them to the heart of Cleveland. Our concept’s winning formula is the combination of featuring cuisine from the different regions of Mexico and providing the largest selection of tequilas and Mexican beers available, all served with south-of-the-border ambiance and hospitality. Zocalo allows our Guests to get a taste of Mexico without ever having to leave the 4th Street neighborhood.
Zocalo’s signature and unique "alley" entrance will be used as a portal that leads you from the hectic city life slowly bringing you into the warmth of Mexico. As you wander down the alley, the environment transforms into your memories of our last Mexican vacation. The venue has a distinctively Mexico style architecture utilizing adobe finishes, unfinished woods, rustic irons energized by bright colors and enchanting lights. The exterior façade has a coastal Mexican architecture and features our cantina patio with large palapa style umbrellas and rustic furniture which is commonplace in any seaside resort.
Restaurante
The restaurant will host a comfortable and relaxed feel which permeates throughout the facility. Remaining true to our commitment for great food, the exhibition kitchen acts as a visual anchor and puts our chefs on display. You begin the culinary experience with the smell of fresh tortillas being hand-pressed in the dining area that teases the appetite. A large mesquite grill charbroiling fresh meats and seafood are a feature of our exhibition style kitchen. Large crates of fresh produce stacked on wooden tables are spread throughout the restaurant providing storage for our fresh ingredients as well serves as a testament to the quality of cuisine. Tomatoes, avocados and peppers are picked by the cooks as needed throughout the day to prepare our house specialties. Just imagine the look on Guests’ faces when they order guacamole and have our servers hand pick the avocadoes and then prepare the tasty treat table side. Large booths, wooden chairs, and tile floors create a casual and cozy dining environment. Colorful ting lights and bright colors provide a festive look completing the dining transformation into one that is uniquely Mexico.
Callejon Cocina
Another unique and distinguishing feature to Zocalo is the Callejon Cocina or Alley Kitchen. Located off of 4th Street, a walk up counter features our great food to go. Whether you just want to pick up lunch for the office, a meal to take home or a late night snack to finish off the evening, the Callejon Cocina provides you a quick service option with the authenticity and fun of walking up to a alley taco stand in Cabo San Lucas!
Cantina – Tequileria
The Zocalo Cantina reflects the fun-loving spirit of Mexico and pays tribute to one of the defining elements of Mexico – tequila! Captured in our name, tequila is not just a product crafted only in Mexico; it is their passion and a defining part of their culture.
In the Cantina you will feel the warm, whimsical and colorful character of a Mexican cantina. Open to the exterior, the Cantina has a slight tropical feel reminiscent of the great resort in Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. Featuring over 40 brands of tequila and 15 brands of cervezas, the Cantina serves up the best cocktails Mexico has to offer and provide great pairings for the freshly made cuisine. The Guests provide some of the entertainment as they step into our featured “barber stool” and try our upside-down margaritas. Large hand-blown margarita glasses will feature our 20 signature margaritas utilizing the best tequilas and mixes offered in the market. Tasting flights for our signature tequilas allows our Guests to sample our unique collection and decide for themselves which is the best. We also offer one of the greatest collections of Mexican beer in the United States!
Comida
Fresh, authentic, flavorful and plentiful are words that define our cuisine. Celebrating the unique ingredients and spices that are indigenous to the varying regions of Mexico, our recipes will capture those flavors and provide our Guests different styles of Mexican cuisines from the three culinary regions in Mexico.
Yucatan
This region represents the southern part of Mexico and provides a wide variety of recipes featuring black beans, banana leaves, and pumpkin seeds combined with fresh meats and vegetables. The Yucatan menu features regional dishes such as queso rellenos (cheese filled with picadillo meat) and pollo pibil (chicken with spicy sauce). This style of cuisine features meats rubbed in recado spices, wrapped in banana leaves and smoke dot perfection.
Puebla
This region in the central part of Mexico is known as the Cradle of Corn and is the birthplace to one of the country’s most popular dishes, mole. The Puebla menu will feature regional specialties such as chiles rellenos (pablano peppers stuffed with cheese), pollo en mole verde (chicken with green mole) and meat and vegetables stuffed tamales. This section of the menu offers a variety of items with meats slow cooked in pots and served with, of course, mole!
Veracruz
This coastal region of Mexico will offer a great selection of dishes eaturing seafood caught in the coastal waters off of Vercruz. The Veracruz menu highlights popular dishes such as huachinango a la veracruzana (red snapper with spicy tomato sauce), arroz ala tumbada (rice baked with fresh seafood), and enchiladas stuffed with sautéed chipotle shrimp. This coastal cuisine changes based upon what seafood is available fresh by season.
Whichever region and cuisine you choose, it will be made from scratch and paired with our great selection of tequilas or a one-of-a-kind Mexican food dining experience. The food will provide you every reason you need to come back time and gain to satisfy your Mexican food craving!

The service will be renowned in the marketplace for being overly friendly. With a level of courtesy and attention to details that is not experienced traditionally in the casual dining segment, our attentive service style provides a complement to the great food and incredible environment we’ve created. In addition to the friendly service, our service staff will engage the Guests in unique ways. Whether it is with their extraordinary knowledge of the food’s preparation or origin, knowledge of tequila and their flavor profiles, or the bartender celebrating a Guest’s first inverted margarita, our staff will have our Guests fed as well as entertained.
